2022 Fly In Pancake Breakfast
July 10, 2022 was a great day for the Bancroft Flying Club – great weather, great turn out and great volunteers! We had not held our popular Fly-In since 2019 due to Covid, so it was exciting to host it once again. We upped the Fly-In to include a bbq lunch of hamburgs and sausages, and included musical entertainment by the talented Sterling Stead. The whole atmosphere held a fair like quality to it!
Local scenic sightseeing flights were provided by Lake Country Airways. The grounds included the antique vehicles from the Bancroft Cruisers, 1st. Bancroft Scouting Group, Hospice North Hastings, the Town of Bancroft Fire Department as well as local maple syrup producers Harry & Diane Wadsworth, and Ryan & Kristena Schutt- Moore of Amber Hills Maple Farm. Kristena Schutt-Moore was also there on behalf of our local newspaper, Bancroft This Week. Doug Holtby showcased the MNRF Eurocopter EC130 Helicopter along with the MNRF fire prevention crew, including Smokey The Bear!
A total of 55 planes flew in that day to join us and over 500+ meals were served!
To Kevin Moore, thank so you much for coming out to our Fly-in and doing the write up for Barnstormers. His photos of the planes with descriptions were excellent, and the promotion of our area will certainly bring in more planes at our next event. Here’s the link for the write-up: https://eflyer.barnstormers.com/2022/771/featured-article/771-eFLYER-FA02.html
And to our local paper, Bancroft This Week, thank you for promoting our Fly-In, your publication reaches many far and wide and helped with our success.
A huge thank you to all who attended! And to our troupe of volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the day and into the evening hours for cleanup! And thank you to the town of Bancroft for supplying us with picnic tables, garbage and recycle bins, and picking it all up after the Fly-In.
See you July 9, 2023 at our next Fly-In!
